ALCA will no longer be able to accept cheque payments from 1 April 2027. This change forms part of a wider move towards more efficient and secure digital financial processes.
We are providing a full financial year’s notice to allow member councils sufficient time to prepare for the transition. Councils that currently pay by cheque are encouraged to begin arranging electronic payment methods such as BACS or online banking ahead of the 2027/28 financial year.
Further reminders will be issued during the coming year, and we are happy to assist any councils that require support in updating their payment arrangements.
